Focusing primarily on democratic states, it explores recent innovation in public administration and policy evolution and transformation within the context of the modern welfare state. It examines the institutions and political setting in several countries, which will include both advanced industrial countries and developing nations, and addresses policy areas ranging from social welfare to environmental politics.
